Many people nowadays think that the plagiarism as copying other's work or borrowing someone else's original ideas.For your information,the terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offense.Plagiarism is also known as fraud.

• Copying or paraphrasing from a source without crediting the original author.
• Using another person's words or ideas as if they were your own.
• Copying another student's work.
• "Cutting & pasting" from an online source or the internet without citing the source.

• You can use quotes to give the credit to the author of an article.
• Mention where did you get the information.
• Write the information by using your own words.

Topic 6:TAKING LECTURER NOTES

                                                 <TAKING NOTES STRATEGIES>                                                                

(1)Cornell Method

The Cornell Method has been and remains one of the most popular note-taking strategies among the students this day.This technique can be seen above and in the accompanying diagram.You can divide it into three section.

The right corner is home to the general area.This is where you can keep your most important ideas that your lecturer has covered during class.Meanwhile,the left corner is the compliment of the general ideas.Writing notes in the margins help us to understand and relate to each point of our notes.The last section is labelled summary should be left blank during class as it is intended for use when you are reviewing the notes after the class.

(2)Underline Key Words

It's advisable to underline the most important learning concepts of the lesson as they will stand out more clearly and you will be more inclined to memorize them.The notes will be easily to read and you also can review them more quickly because you can use the underline parts as a guide and no need to read the entire passage every time you want to revise your notes again.

Topic 5:MEMORY,LEARNING AND IMPROVING CONCENTRATION

<MEMORY PROCESS>

Memory is essentially the capacity for storing retrieving information.Three processes are involved in memory:

• encoding
• storage
• retrieval                                                                                 

All these memory processes determine whether something is remembered or forgotten.

(1)Encoding

Processing information into memory is called encoding.People automatically encode some types of information without being aware of it.For example,most of the people can recall where they ate lunch yesterday even though they didn't try to remember this information.

(2)Storage

After the information enters the human brain,it has to be stored or maintained.

(3)Retrieval

Retrieval is the process of getting information out of memory.Retrieval cues are stimuli that help the process of retrieval.Retrieval cues include associations,context and mood.

(1)Chunking  

For me,it will be more easier to memorize information when you break it up into small chunks.You may not realize it but you use chunking often.For example,when you try to memorize your friend's number phone,a locker combination and your account password.It's easier to remember long numbers when you "chunk" them into more smaller groups.

(2)Graphic Organizer

These method can help you see thing that you are trying to learn.They help organize information.There are many different types of graphic organizer and you can even design them yourself.For examples,you can draw web for the main topic and details and Venn Diagram for comparing and contrasting.

(3)Acronyms

Acronyms is a word made up from the first letters of a list of words.You can take the list of words or facts that you want to remember and put them in an order so that the first letters of each word,spell a real word or a made-up word.

(4)Playing Games

Playing some games is a great way to memorize information.You see,as you play the game you are learning the material and practicing it over and over again.Games is well known that can help you remember facts,formulas,definition and any other information easily.

(1)The Definition Of Time Management 

Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your

time between specific activities.Good time management enables you to work

smarter,not harder.Failing to manage your damages your effectiveness and causes stress.

(2)Time Management Tips

>Set Goals:There's a right and wrong way to set a goals.If your don't set your own goals min the right way,you will miss the proper target and it can drag you to fall off track.When you set your own goals,make sure you have powerful deep down meaning to achieve them.

>Good Time Management:One of the tips for managing our time is find the right system to actually do it.You also can make a timetable to manage your time effectively.You also have the enough time to make a revision and you have enough time to do something else.

>Audit Your Time For Seven Days Straight:Spend seven days straight on how you spend the time you do have right now.What are you doing?Record it in your own journal and split it up into the block form of 30 minutes or an hour.You must determine that does your time is wasted or not.At the end of seven days,tally up all the numbers.Using this method you can figured out where did you spend the most time.

(2)BE POSITIVE>>Lead our whole life to become good person and no negative things in your heart because all people want to success in their lifes.

(3)SELF-CHOSEN>>Brave to volunteer yourself to involve in any activities and gain position in clubs and associations.

(4)MODERATELY CHALLENGING>>Challenge yourself to involve in everything even though you never know how to face it.Besides,you also can try and learn something new.

(5)SPECIFIC>>We don't need to follow our friends in every situation especially in academic.

>My academic goals is I want to achieves pointer 3.6 and above in every subject that I take and I want to achieve "Anugerah Dekan" in every semester.

>My personal goals is I want to become a succesful Chartered Accountant when I reach 30 years old and I also want to achieve a "Dato'" title when I was 35 years old.

<SETTING GOALS FOR THE NEW SEMESTER>

>Always ask and meet personally with my lecturers everytime I don't understand what they teach in the class.
>Always help my friend and be responsible to them when they are not understand a topic by teaching them if I could.

THE ICE BREAKING SESSION

Before we get into this topic a lot deeper,let me explain for you about the "ICE BREAKING SESSION".This session is one of the method to know your new friend very well.In my first class in the "ICE BREAKING SESSION",all of my class member had to make our own tag line.My tag line is 'ADAM!!!MOVING FORWARD'.In my opinion,the main purpose to create our own tag line is to make and build our confident level when facing with the new people.Another activity that I should do is created a song with my group member.We must create the lyrics that consists the group member's interest and sing it in front of the whole class members.

Let me introduce myself first.My name is Iqmal Muhammad Adam bin Irsan Yuz and I lived in Malacca.I study in UiTM Campus Alor Gajah,Malacca.For your information,this is my first time written a blog and my main purpose is to introduce to the students about UED 102 and also known as soft skills.This subject is teaching the students about the effective learning method that they can apply in their studies.One of the advantage that the students can get is they can manage their time wisely.
